On Tuesday, March 26, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack will join AgriCapture at a Wisconsin mill to highlight how the AgriCapture Climate-Friendly Rice Program is creating new revenue streams for producers’ sustainable farming practices through the USDA’s historic Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities.
Featuring the Climate-Friendly Certified by AgriCapture seal, retail rice bags, packaged at the Wisconsin mill, mark the first product entering the market under Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities.
AgriCapture is a leading developer of the climate-friendly rice market, aligning farmers, a network of identity-preserved mills, and in-house verification to certify rice grown with practices that reduce methane, save water, and minimize inorganic arsenic.
In addition to $1.6 million in direct payments from the USDA, US rice farmers received a 10% market-driven premium relative to conventional rice pricing.
