Support Global Rice Methane Reductions

Nature-Based Methane Reduction Credits

Rice is the most consumed food worldwide, feeding over 3.5 billion people every day. However, traditional flooded rice systems use significant amounts of water and contribute roughly 12% of global methane emissions.

AgriCapture’s Global Rice Methane project is scaling sustainable rice production across Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. In partnership with local organizations that understand regional farming systems, AgriCapture provides farmers with tailored technical assistance while implementation partners collect data directly from the field.

How do we Reduce On-Farm Methane Emissions?

1 Farmers adopt regenerative agriculture

Farmers implement methane-reducing and water-saving rice growing techniques, such as alternate wetting & drying (AWD). Local implementation partners support farmers with technical assistance and data collection.

2 AgriCapture generates carbon credits

Farm practices and emissions reductions undergo third-party verification and registry review to ensure high-integrity carbon credit issuances.

3 Companies purchase carbon credits

Companies purchase credits to invest in regenerative agriculture and offset their difficult-to-abate emissions. Each  credit represents one ton of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions avoided through on-farm practices.

AgriCapture’s approach ensures the integrity of emissions reduction carbon credits by addressing key quality requirements.

Additionality, Permanence, & Reversal Risk

 Registry-Verified and Data-Driven

Carbon credits are third-party verified and registered under Verra’s Improved Management in Rice Production Systems (VM51) methodology, ensuring high-integrity assurance of emissions reductions.
