Cumulative Results: 175,965 Tonnes of Verified Emission Reductions. 51.1 Billion Gallons of Water Saved. 3,128 fields. 5 states.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – April 27th, 2026 – Today marks AgriCapture’s fourth issuance of carbon credits from its US Rice Methane Project, another notable milestone in the company’s pursuit of credible climate solutions in rice agriculture. This issuance resulted in 105,965 tonnes of CO2e reduced and 30.1 billion gallons of water saved. Interventions occurred across 2,202 fields in 5 states. The project has received notable external recognition for credit quality, including CCP labeling and an A rating from BeZero Carbon.
The carbon credits are issued under Climate Action Reserve’s Soil Enrichment Protocol. Improved rice irrigation provides substantial climate and water stewardship opportunities. As farmers shift to practices like alternate wetting and drying (AWD) or furrow irrigation, methane emissions from rice production can be reduced by up to 70%. Additionally, the project results in ~300,000 gallons of water saved per verified carbon credit. These outcomes underscore the value of supporting farmers in adopting practices that deliver real environmental benefits while strengthening the long-term sustainability of rice production in the United States.
AgriCapture’s US Rice Methane Project also demonstrates how Nature-Based Solutions can help address Superpollutants, including Methane. Superpollutants are short-lived, high-intensity greenhouse gases that are responsible for approximately half of today’s global warming. Superpollutant Projects can deliver immediate climate benefit through highly scalable technologies.
Since AgriCapture’s last issuance, the project has significantly expanded its footprint. Farmer enrollment grew by 496% and GHG emission reduction impact grew by 211%. As AgriCapture continues to expand its work, the company remains focused on scaling practical solutions that reduce agricultural emissions, strengthen resource efficiency, and support resilient rice production.
While this latest issuance reflects progress in the United States, AgriCapture also operates rice methane projects across Latin America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. AgriCapture extends the same mission for practical agricultural climate solutions across the globe.
